June Edition: Inside the Box

What “Hit Zero” Means to Us at MyCheerleadingBox

Let's get real for a second: Hitting Zero isn't just about your score. In the world of cheer, we obsess over the "perfect" routine. But hitting zero is a mindset that starts long before you reach the mat.

For the MyCheerleadingBox Team, hitting zero means "Zero Compromise." When we are creating these brands and sourcing products, our goal is a deduction-free experience for you. It means listening to feedback, creating community, brainstorming new themes and product ideas, delivering on our promises, and most importantly, supporting all of you!

The Question: How do you handle the nerves right before the music starts?

"I remind myself that I’ve worked SO hard for this moment and I take a deep breath. We always run out onto the mat in pairs. So I’ve already squeezed my teammates’ hands and exchanged compliments to get us through the first eight counts. Mostly, I trust put my trust in myself, as I can only control myself. Once the music starts, it’s go time and all the nerves turn into excitement!" - Gabby (@gabbygirlcheers)

"I handle my nerves before tryouts by praying and listening to my family and friends!" - Brooklyn (@minibrooklyn1219)

Mat Talk - For The Cheer Parents

Hitting zero is the masterclass in logistics you perform every day. You can help your athlete hit zero by focusing on the "invisible" deductions:

  • The Routine of Rest: Ensure they are actually using that recovery time; a well-rested brain makes fewer mistakes on the mat.
  • The "Zero Stress" Zone: Be the calm in the storm. When the nerves kick in at the competition, your steady energy helps them stay focused on their counts rather than their anxiety.
  • The Prep Lead: Helping them drill the "little things" means they have zero distractions when it’s time to perform.

For the athlete, hitting zero means clearing the self-doubt from your head. It’s trusting your training, your bases, and your prep when the music starts.

Athletes, hit your starting pose. Parents, take a deep breath. Team, let’s get to work. Let’s hit zero!
